TDP sheds its ‘T’ inhibitions

HYDERABAD: As the deadline for submission of report on Telangana issue is fast approaching, the TDP playing hide-and-seek on the issue has now given up its resistance and has decided to come out openly to demand bifurcation of the state.
The Telangana leaders of the party have been told to organise dharnas at all mandal headquarters from Thursday demanding speedy introduction of a bill in Parliament. The decision was taken at a meeting the T-leaders had with Chandrababu Naidu late on Tuesday night. Instructions were given to the district units to ensure good turnout at the dharnas.
The party leaders plan to target the Congress for pushing the state into confusion over the issue and dividing the people on regional lines. The TDP has given a letter to committee headed by Pranab Mukherjee supporting bifurcation of the state.
Meanwhile, the party is making arrangements to take a train load of party activists, some people from the Telangana student JAC and 10 other pro-T organisations to New Delhi and stage a dharna in the national capital on Monday.
The party has sought an appointment with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi so that they can submit a memorandum to her demanding the Centre introduce a bill in Parliament.
