Expose those misleading people on J&K''s accession : Jagmohan

New Delhi, Oct 22 (PTI) Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Jagmohan today said that those making statements regarding the state''s accession to India and doubting the nature of its merger with the Union were misleading the people and should be exposed.
"Those people making public statements that accession of J and K to India cannot be compared to other states'' and that it was not a merger... are misleading the people. They should be exposed", he said at a seminar here titled ''voice of Kashmir''.
Though he did not take any names, Jagmohan''s view was in apparent reference to the statement made by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the state assembly about a fortnight ago.
Abdullah, while referring to points raised by opposition members during a debate on law and order situation in the Valley, had said Jammu and Kashmir''s accession to India cannot be compared to Hyderabad and Junagarh as the latter had merged with the Union, which was not the case with the trouble-torn state.
Jagmohan was among numerous speakers including those representing Muslims, Gujjars, Bakrawals, Pahadi''s, Rajputs Kashmiri Pandits from J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Zeeshan of the Pahadi Manch said only a fraction of people were with the separatists and the rest always considered India as their motherland.
"The sad part is that patriots like us, our voice is not heard. But separatists and all those who are openly anti-India get all the attention and they manage to get their point across and have agitations that stand out", he said.
Gulam Mohammed Kalam, a local leader from Poonch said initially militant groups from across the border took advantage of jobless youth and lured them into terrorism and now the separatists have adapted the same strategy.
A resolution was passed by the delegates at the seminar which said that the entire state of J&K has been, is and will remain an integral part of India and any attempts at separation and secession will be resisted by all necessary means.
"The accession of J&K with India on October 26, 1947 is final, unconditional and irrevocable. We, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the will and capacity to firmly counter all designs against its unity and territorial integrity", the resolution said.
Another speaker Khalida, a social activist, said it was imperative that the return of displaced families be facilitated and their interests in education, employment, business and social needs be taken care of by the government.
