Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi: India Welcomes Commonwealth Nations To Games. It is the biggest CWG ever.

New Delhi: India’s most expensive sporting spectacle got underway in a style on Sunday evening burying all uncertainties about its preparation deep into history.

A new evening dawned upon the country with a spectacular laser fireworks show litting up the sky––not the cloud––of Delhi as the sun sets down on the western horizon.

”Welcome to India! Welcome to the Games!,” the visibly thrilled Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, proclaimed at “a proud moment” at a gathering in the newly decked Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue of the 19th Commonwealth Games.

He invited guests to enjoy Indian hospitality, the Games and the incredible sights and sounds of India.

As he greets the world he said the Games are an occasion to uphold and renew the essential spirit of the Commonwealth that seeks to promote peace, equality and friendship among all people and nations.

As the sporting jamboree kicks off the dirty games being played in the last couple of months literally got washed away in the smooth Yamuna river. Delhi finally appeared prepared for what Sports Minister M S Gill sometimes back said daughter’s marriage.

India at last got an opportunity to showcase its rich culture and traditions, after 28 long years, when it organized the Asian Games in this very city. It ws certainly an uncommon moment for the countrymen and women and tens of millions around the globe who remained glued to television sets all through.
