Patna: Describing the RJD as a 'sinking ship' in the lead up to the assembly polls in Bihar, the BJP on Friday accused Lalu Prasad with compelling his 'reluctant' son Tejaswee to take plunge into politics to revive his fortunes.

Prasad has been obviously rattled with mass desertion from his party ahead of the assembly polls to bring his 20 year-old son into the whirlpool of politics to revive a 'sinking ship', senior BJP leader and the Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told reporters here.

"I know Tejaswee is a good cricketer with a bright future in the game....he should have been better left to perform on a cricket field," he observed.

Modi quoted from the RJD chief's son reported remarks that his father does not allow others to speak to drive home his point that the latter has had nothing substantive to offer to the people of Bihar in terms of development during the 15 long years of the RJD-led rule.

Even now, Prasad has been merely speaking on one issue or other and has no no concrete development agenda to offer in the ensuing assembly polls as well, Modi claimed.

He advised his one-time arch rival to concentrate on preventing his house (RJD) from coming apart amid desertion from its ranks to other political parties and referred to the former Union minister Akhilesh Singh quitting the RJD to join the Congress, while its MP Uma Shankar Singh deciding to work against his party candidates in the assembly polls.

Modi had a dig at the RJD Chief for his belated affection for the upper castes saying that the latter's bid to woo the forward castes was a non-starter as there were no no representatives left from Bhumihar, Brahmin and Rajput communities in the party.

"Forget the upper castes, his own brothers in-law Subhash Yadav and Anirudh Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav has left Prasad' shadow and even his wife Rabri Devi was missing from her husband's side at the crucial juncture even his ship was sinking," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
