Tough battle to win muslim votes in Bihar election

With Bihar Assembly Election knocking at the door, it’s high time for politicians to woo back masses with promises and offers to achieve win in this battle of votes. With 16percent voters residing in Bihar being Muslim, the battle to win over is on a high. Having only four more days at hand, all politicians are at their best form to make their way in the hearts of masses and ensure a sure victory.

When all state politicians are fighting grounds to capture the vote bank with maximum win, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says “People of the country should at bay from people who believe in divide and rule and is trying to mislead common people. Society should be wary of such people and side them.” This comment from the PM comes in reference to the alliance tie of Nitish Kumar’s party with BJP which is viewed as an attempt to merge and gain over the Muslim votes against Congress.

During June this year, Nitish Kumar’s party went through a break off with BJP when Nadendra Modi tried to make his presence felt in the state of Bihar before the BJP’s national executive meeting scheduled at Patna. But Nitish Kumar’s move to ensure that Varun Gandhi and Narendra Modi do not get to campaign in Bihar is witnessed as a bid to keep his Muslim vote bank safe. Moreover to give a strong fight, there is Lalu Prasad Yadav of Bihar who is also gearing up to try his best in regaining the Muslim vote bank back in his favor after RJD’s defeat in last year’s Lok Sabha Election.

With the election of Bihar getting nearer, battle for Muslim vote is surely getting tougher. However one thing is set for sure that though Lalu may be trying to get back Muslim votes back, he is feeling quite unsure about Muslim votes in his favor. His statement “No one, especially the upper caste people, will not be voting for Nitish” clearly emphasis that he is not confidently banking on Muslim votes.

According to Mohd Ghayasuddin, a Muslim resident of Bihar “Though Lalu used to say that Muslim community is with him, I don’t think its true anymore. We will be voting for only that person who we think will actually do well for Bihar’s development.”
