Talk to the people
Interlocutors on Kashmir
21/10/10....THE RISING KASMHMIR
Kifayat Hussain-
The govt of India has appointed three non-political interlocutors to find out a solution to Kashmir issue which, unfortunately, is a political one. The govt of India failed to search for political person to be an interlocutor for Kashmir as there have been no takers for this vexed issues.
Indian politicians have at least proved one thing that they are in no way ready to have an active role as far as resolution of Kashmir issue is concerned. The three interlocutors are: Dilip Padgaonkar, who was part of Ram Jethmalani led Kashmir committee and is a prominent journalist; Prof Ms Radha Kumari, an academician and columnist, who was recently in Srinagar to persuade Separatists for dialogue and Central Information Commissioner Prof. M M Ansari with no Kashmir experience is among the three interlocutors picked to hold talks with all shades of opinion in Jammu and Kashmir to bring peace and normalcy in state. Yes, these people have to talk to the people of Kashmir, the 'aam aadmi' the man who really represents Kashmir, the man who has gone through all the trauma and turmoil from last two decades in general and from past 100 days in particular. These interlocutors have to talk to the people on streets. It is the common man who represents Kashmir and if you want a solution to the issue talk to the common man. Whenever the process of dialogue was initiated it has badly failed because of non-seriousness of the government of India. Now the time has come to talk to the people who matter and talks should be serious, open and sincere otherwise they yield nothing as has been the history. There should no ‘quiet talks’, talks should be open and should start immediately without any further delay because the issue of Kashmir is hanging past 63 years.
