BANGALORE: Though a tense victory at Mohali has allowed the hosts to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the two-Test series, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is keen to tighten the loose ends ahead of the second Test starting on Saturday.
The narrowest of margins separated both India and Australia in the opener and the home captain is focused enough to keep the fighting visitors at bay.
"You cannot give away too many runs with the new ball. Once you have got close to the target, you should not lose too many wickets and you should try to take as much lead as possible. Not dropping catches is an old mantra that still means much. It is important not to let them rotate the strike and we have seen that run-outs can change the course of the game. If someone gets a start, they should try and convert it into a big score," described Dhoni, obviously referring to some of the grey areas that sprung up in the previous encounter.
With India remaining winless at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for 15 long years, where they suffered four defeats in the past seven outings, Dhoni said he was keen to set that record straight. But the wicketkeeper-batsman knew that the job is easier said than done against a wounded Australian side.
