BMRCL trainees help Delhi Metro clear CWG rush

BANGALORE: The Delhi Metro might have successfully opened the Sarita Vihar Central Secretariat corridor much ahead of the Common Wealth Games (CWG) on Sunday, but an ounce of appreciation also goes to 153 Bangalore metro station controllers and train operators who are assisting their Delhi counterparts in handling the CWG rush.
"The 153 trainees are assisting Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) meet the extra rush towards the games village. Besides, this is also an opportunity for them to gain handson experience," said a DMRCL official.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) trainees, who are undergoing training at the Delhi Metro Training School in Shastri Park, will finish the training module by October and are expected to be in Bangalore by November.
The training is expected to benefit them when the Bangalore metro starts operations in December. "This will be more of a disciplinary training for the BMRCL trainees in Delhi, as they will learn to manage mass passenger traffic and learn about the key operational aspect," said B L Yashavanth Chavan from BMRCL.
"Tomorrow, if Bangalore hosts a similar event our staff will be well prepared to handle the rush," he said.
The Delhi Metro opened the Sarita Vihar Central Secretariat corridor connecting the CWG village at 8 am itself.
Besides, BMRCL trainees, the Delhi Metro has also taken assistance from 250 scouts, including volunteers of the Delhi Metro Citizen's Forum to manage passenger traffic at the CWG village station.
It was in the month of August that the BMRCL trainees were sent to Delhi and according to DMRC, a total of 383 Bangalore metro station controllers, train operators, section engineers, junior engineers, maintainers and even customer relation associates were will be trained at the Delhi Metro Training School.2010,
