Ayodhya: Another Round of Talks for Negotiated Solution

AYODHYA | OCT 13, 2010

As part of efforts to arrive at an out-of-court settlement of the vexed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, Gyandas, Mahant of Hanumaghari, today held another round of talks with Hashim Ansari, a plaintiff in the Ayodhya title suit.

For the first time after the Allahabad High Court pronounced its verdict on Ayodhya title suits, Mahant Gyandas visited Hashim Ansari's Sanjhi Tola residence.

He had a closed-door meeting with the 90-year-old litigant for nearly 15 minutes.

After the meeting, Mahant Gyandas said talks were heading in a positive direction.

He said an agreement was being prepared but refused to divulge anything at this juncture.

Nirmohi Akhara, a litigant in the title suit, said it would not allow building of any mosque adjacent to proposed Ram temple.

Ram Das, main priest of Nirmohi Akhara, said "we do not want any mosque to be constructed adjacent to proposed Ram temple."

Das is the authorised representative of ailing chief of Nirmohi Akhara Mahant Bhaskar Das.
