Bihar Assembly Elections: More Voters Turned Out Despite Naxal Threats

The fourth phase of Bihar Assembly elections witnessed 51 percent of voting with more number of voters turned out to vote despite Naxals placed bombs in Jamui jungle.
According to reports, 53 percent voting was recorded in Khagaria district while 55 percent in Begusarai district.
Security arrangements were tightened for the fourth phase polls due to Naxalites threats. Besides deploying security forces in polling centres and border regions, air surveillance was also arranged.
Two bombs blasted on Monday during the fourth phase elections. The first bomb exploded near Danapur’s booth in Bank Colony while the second blasted near Danapur police station. A woman is reported have been injured in the explosion.
The Bihar Assembly elections witnessed 55 percent, 53 percent and 53 percent in the first, second and third polls respectively.
The first phase of Bihar Assembly polls began on October 21 and the second and third phases completed on October 24th and 28th respectively. The fifth and sixth phase of Assembly elections would be conducted on November 9th and 20th respectively. The counting of votes would begin on November 24.
