Nana Patekar to spread message about malaria prevention

Mumbai, Sep 9 (PTI) As the metropolis battles with malaria, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has roped in actor Nana Patekar to spread message about the mosquito-borne disease that has claimed over 50 lives so far in the city this year. "We have shot a three-minute documentary film on malaria featuring Nana Patekar.
The film will be screened in all city theatres by the month-end," Additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar said here today. The Bollywood veteran will tell people about dos and dont''s about preventing mosquito breeding and early detection of malaria, she said.
"Through this film we intend to create awareness among people like how they should keep their surroundings clean and free from mosquitoes," Mhaiskar said. The documentary has been fully financed by the corporate sector.
Thousands of people have tested positive for malaria in the metropolis since the beginning of this year and over 50 have died till now. Eight deaths have been reported this month so far.
Earlier, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar was roped in by the BMC to spread message about water conservation.
