VIGILANCE SITE DEFUNCT

I tried to lodge a complaint on the AP Vigilance Commission website http://apvc.ap.nic.in/ under the grievance section. After you fill in all the details, nothing happens when you click on the “send” button. Ironically, the email id of the website for suggest-ions/improvements vc@ap.gov.in does not work either and mails sent to it bounces back. How can one expect to inform the CVC about wrongdoings in the society without proper channels available for grievance? I hope they will rectify the situation promptly.

POLICY REKHA FOR SC

This is with reference to the report Manmohan lays down policy rekha for judges (September 7). The Supreme Court order should be understood in the right perspective. It only wanted the foodgrains rotting in the godowns to be distributed free to people below the poverty line. The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, should take the initiative to streamline the Public Distribution System and ensure that those who are hungry are fed. By saying that it is not possible, the Prime Minister is admitting that the aam aadmi government has failed.

Our politicians are good at framing the rules for everybody except themselves. I wonder why the government is spending millions of rupees of taxpayers’ money to construct state-of-the art stadia for conducting Commonwealth Games. Don’t they feel responsible for building state-of-the art godowns to save foodgrains from rotting?

RELEVANT CARTOONS

The Here and Now cartoon by Sudhir Tailang (December 7) about the Commonwealth Games theme song has been quite intelligently satirised. In the wake of the nationwide strike called by nine trade unions, protesting against the price rise and decision to privatise PSUs, that was an apt cartoon. I heard that the music composer A.R. Rahman has taken a whopping sum to compose the CWG theme song even though it was not up to the mark.

DON’T JUDGE PAWAN

This is with reference to the article Not cut out to play Christ (September 7). I disagree with the views expressed in it and feel they are not in tune with the teachings of Christ. It is not right to judge Pawan Kalyan based on his past or present disposition. A person who calls himself righteous is only deceiving himself. Even the thief who was crucified on the cross beside Jesus was forgiven and promised a place in heaven.
