As the countdown to the inaugural day of the Commonwealth Games begins, about a thousand performers will put together an act to present a perfect Yoga installation under the aerostat at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.
Dubbed as "Yoga -- Mind, Body and Soul", the programme is being synchronised with music composed by Ranjit Barot and is a part of the two-and-a-half hour opening event.
"It is for the first time that Yoga installation will be held involving as many as 1,000 Yoga performers under an aerostat," said a member of the creative team which has conceived the programme.
The inaugural show will be kicked off with the invocation by blowing of conches, Buddhist horns and drum beating by folk, tribal and classical drummers of India.
The invocation will be followed by the welcome song involving the performance of 1000 Delhi schoolchildren to different Indian forms of music including Hindustani, Sufi and Karnatic.
"The welcome song is being choreographed in a traditional way with 'mehendi' as its pattern," said the team member.
"Tree of Knowledge" will be another attraction of the event where 800 classical dancers will perform various Indian dance forms including Odissi, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Manipuri.
A tree has been specifically designed for it to be part of the Tree of Knowledge dance and the programme will exhibit different seasons of the country, he said.
"A Day in Life of India" involving 1500 performers is slated to be staged after the Yoga installation show. "It will showcase rural and small town India to modern India with its different aspects including farming, weaving and marriage procession," he said.
Athletes' march past, hoisting of Commonwealth Games and country flags, oath by athletes, Baton Relay and the ceremony involving "Games to be declared open" by president will be held in between the cultural programmes.
