Two and a half decades ago, Bill Gates unveiled Microsoft's first operating system. It wasn't for sale yet and would make it store debut only two years later in 1985. And yet, 25 years later Windows 7, the latest from the Microsoft stable is doing roaring business.
Windows 1.0, released in 1985, was Microsoft's first attempt to implement a multi-tasking graphical user interface-based operating environment on the PC platform. It used MS-DOS executive as its primary interface.
