Voting accounts for 82 per cent in phase 2 of J&K panchayat polls

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir today finished voting in the second phase of the 13-phase panchayat elections, being held in the state for the first time in 10 years.
On a misty rainy day in Kashmir, thousands turned up to cast their vote for the second phase of panchayat elections in the State.
According to poll officials, it witnessed an impressive turnout of 82 percent - higher than first phase of polling despite the killing of a female candidate a day before the elections in Budgam.
More than 2000 candidates are in the fray in this phase of polling in 8 blocks. First phase saw a whopping turnout of over 80%.
The third phase of polling will be held on April 21.
