Congress president Sonia Gandhi has accepted Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's resignation as Maharashtra Chief Minister over the Adarsh Housing Society scam. The Congress has also accepted Suresh Kalmadi's resignation as Secretary of the Congress Parliamentary Party with immediate effect. Kalmadi has been in the eye of a storm following allegations of corruption in Commonwealth Games-related projects.
