Pakistan on Thursday said it appreciated Indian government's measured response in reacting to the Delhi high court blasts, as it cautioned against getting into speculation in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Tahmina Janjua said her
government appreciated the "mature" attitude of home minister P Chidambaram who did not indulge in any finger pointing while making a statement in parliament following the blast.
"Even the Indian interior minister in his address to the parliament said yesterday there is no clarity, there has been no information on the source of these attacks," she said when asked to react to speculation in an Indian media report about a possible Pakistani link to the blast.
The powerful blast at a crowded gate of the Delhi high court yesterday claimed 12 lives and injured dozens of people. An email claiming to be from Harkatul-Jihad-e-Islami claimed responsibility for the attack and security officials said they were probing it.
Chidambaram told the Parliament yesterday that it was not possible at "this stage" to identify the group behind the attack but asserted that government was "determined to track down the perpetrators of this horrific crime and bring them to justice." Janjua said in absence of complete information it was best not to speculate. "... so it is best not to get into speculations because it is easy to speculate and point a finger at anyone and it is best to undertake a more mature attitude which we appreciate has been taken by the minister," she said.
