J-K govt will not shield anyone involved in HR violations:Omar
Asserting that his government will not shield anyone involved in human rights violations, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the allegations in the Kulgam rape case have been found to be incorrect.
"The investigations into the Kulgam incident have revealed that there is too much difference between the allegations and the reality," Omar said in his Independence Day speech at Bakshi stadium.
A 32-year-old woman had alleged that she was kidnapped by two army men on July 19 and raped for two days before being set free on July 21, leading to protests in Manzgam area of Kulgam district.
However, no marks of violence or resistance were found on the woman's body during the medical examination. The police officials had maintained a silence on the progress in investigations saying the forensic report of the swabs had not been received.

Commenting on other allegations of rights violations, Omar said several personnel have been arrested and booked under murder charges in the Sopore custodial death case and the Surankote fake encounter case.
"Investigations are going on against others (security forces personnel)," he said. The Chief Minister said there were elements, who tried to incite people to agitate and protest against these violations.
"We are worried when such incidents take place but please give this government some time to investigate. We will not spare the guilty," he said.
