UP Elections 2012: A Neck to Neck Fight-(will all the problems become a "election planks for all the parties" or will they find pucca solutions VT)

UP Elections 2012: A Neck to Neck Fight

Uttar Pradesh elections are scheduled in 2012. Congress has planned out all the strategies. This time the party does not want to let the cat go out of bag. For this Congress has chosen Rahul Gandhi to face BSP in UP. Rahul Gandhi is equally focusing on dalits, generals, Muslims and the backward classes. BSP has become quite insecure after seeing Rahul Gandh’s active involvement. Congress has learnt a lesson from the Bihar assembly elections, so the party is taking each and every step with due care. The magic of party is spreading gradually this can be felt by looking at the huge crowd gathering in the summits organized by Dr PL Puniya, National President- ST/SC Commission.

In the two days’ meeting of Coordination Committee in Lucknow strategies were chalked out to uproot BSP government. The public is quite disappointed by SP and BSP. So, Congress can utilize this opportunity and can take it to victorious end. The public is also happy to see the involvement of Congress in providing justice to the public on some matters like farmers demonstration in Aligarh’s Tappal district, Kanpurs Divya controversy etc. Now SP too cannot afford to sit back and relax when the danger is at their doorstep. SP is trying best not to allow Rahul Gandhi to mingle with the youth of the state and get their support.

During the Lucknow visit when a youth questioned Rahul Gandhi over reservation then he replied in the form of another question. He asked whether the scheduled castes have developed yet? Dr PL Puniya seems to be quite well prepared to beat BSP by raising the issue of dalit exploitation in Uttar Pradesh. State President, Reeta Bahguna said that 68 members were present in the meeting of Coordination Committee including Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh, Mohsina Kidwai, Ramnaresh Yadav, Beni Prasad Verma, Parvez Hashmi, Avinash Pandey, Jaydev Jena.

Rahul critcised Mayawati government for malfunctioning as the government did not properly implement schemes run by the centre for the public of UP. So, Rahul has directed officials to look after this matter. During the plenary session of Congress, Sonia Gnadhi had made 5 point agenda for UP under which, for monitoring flagship projects of the centre, a committee has been formed by the state Congress. This Committee is chaired by Reeta Bahuguna. This committee will appoint a coordinator in each district of UP. Committee will monitor the flagship programs every month and will submit its report to All India Congress Committte.

Digvijay Singh specially talked to ‘Chauthi Duniya’ and revealed the party strategies for the upcoming UP elections. He said that party will finish the selection procedure of the candidates latest by 31st May. 10 supervisors will visit the entire state and will select the candidates by 30th March. Congress seems to have made a two way strategy. At one end it is to be seen as distancing itself from both the SP and the BSP and on the other Congress is trying to shake hands with RLD, Momin Congress, Peace Party and Bhartiya Samaj Party. RLD will give a lot of benefit to Congress in the west-UP. Congress spokesperson Subodh Srivastava attacked BSP for being ruthless towards the dalits. He also said that BSP has given funds only to 15 poor people in the last three years for medical purpose. The government documents are clearly showing the mismanagement of Mayawati rule. Congress is specially focusing on the poor weavers of Bundelkhand and Purvanachal. The party says that the public is awake now and is absolutely not ready to tolerate this kind of poor governance anymore.
