Indian people with their warmth, grace and commitment to promoting relations between the two democracies.
Singh also said that India and the United States will work as a "equal partners" in a strategic relationship to promote global peace and stability.
Singh also agreed with the US President that protectionism was detrimental for both countries.
Singh also welcomed the lifting of some US curbs on exports of sensitive technology to India and said the two countries would cooperate in the space, defence and nuclear sectors.
The prime minister was speaking at a joint press conference with visiting U.S. president Barack Obama.
India is Obama's first stop on a 10-day tour through Asia. He is spending three days in India, the longest time he has spent in any foreign country as president.
