A resolution aiming at solving the vexed insurgency problem of the North-East will be passed at the ongoing BJP national executive committee meeting here, party president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said.

“BJP is with the people of North-East and Assam and we will definitely come up with ways to solve their problems,” Mr. Gadkari said, adding that a resolution will be passed in this regard.

In his inaugural speech, he attacked the UPA government for pursuing vote bank politics and “inviting” infiltrators from Bangladesh with a red carpet.

On the insurgency front, the BJP president alleged that the UPA government had failed to punish Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and tried to give the issue a religious twist.

“Insurgency has no religion and when the Centre is on the backfoot they talk about the advent of Hindu terrorism,” he said.

On the growing Naxal problem, he said the ‘red corridor’ from Nepal to Andhra Pradesh is a cause for concern.

“This (Naxalism) is not merely a socio-economic problem. They want to capture India through the barrel of gun and members in the National Advisory Council are supporting them,” he said.

The BJP president also appealed to the people to help in the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya and asserted that it should not be made an election issue.

Describing the UPA government as a “kingdom of corruption”, Mr. Gadkari said the nation is facing one of the severest crisis of leadership and people are looking up to the BJP.

“From sports to civil supplies and telecommunication to civil aviation, the UPA-II has allowed every arena of governance to be exploited by scamsters,” he said.

He demanded that the government should publish the entire data pertaining to terrorist attacks since 2004 and give details of investigations completed, cases filed and those convicted.

Expressing concern over price rise, the BJP president said in spite of the Supreme Court’s reprimand, the government allowed food grains to rot without distributing them to the hungry.

For development of the North East, the party has set up a group of policy researchers and experts to prepare a North-East India 2025 vision document, he said.

On the international front, Mr. Gadkari demanded that the government should take steps to build upon the recent Obama visit to the country’s advantage.

“We have to take responsibility for making the nation free from corruption, hunger and terror. People are looking up to the BJP and the NDA with great expectations,” he said.
