Patna, Jul 10 (PTI) Bihar government will provide 40 per cent subsidy to those interested in digging ponds for fish farming, state Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh said today.
This would help bridge the gap between demand and supply of about two lakh metric tonnes and increase the yield from three lakh metric tonnes at present to nine lakh metric tonnes in the next five years, he said at a function here.
The state government has set a target of 500 new ponds in the size of one hectare each, he added.
