Theatre In Education Company (Sanskar Rang Toli) of National School of Drama is organizing Jashn-e-Bachpan since November, 1998. Initiallly it was an annual theatre festival by children as well as by adults for Children, but now TIE Co. of NSD organizes Jashn-e-Bachpan in every subsequent year. This year TIE is organizing its 7th Jashn-e-Bachpan from 14-27 November 2006.(click here for schedule)

Reputed theatre groups from all over the country working with/for children participate in the festival. Till now around 67 plays in different Indian languages has been showcased through Jashn-e-Bachpan. Whereas for this Jashn-e-Bachpan 2006, TIE CO. received 70 plays, which indicates towards the significance and its popularity. Out of these 70 plays for this Jashn-e-Bachpan 14 plays are selected. This annual feature is truly a confluence of children’s plays from different parts of the country in Delhi. Delhi being the capital of our country plays a significant role for the participant groups outside of Delhi, whereas Delhi’s children through this festival gets a knowledge of various children theatre groups, a chance to interact with them and associates themselves with theatrical aspect which TIE Co. is dedicated.


Objectives

Interaction among the groups working with/for children and the children/spectators interaction with the theatre groups, so that we can work together in a direction to provide/create a better, meaningful and educative theatre.
To focus the role of children’s theatre for the integrated growth of a child touching upon her/his psychological, mental, emotional and social growth.
To create a nationwide network of theatre groups/people working with/for children to exchange the idea on different theatrical methodologies, their significance and pedagogical aspect.
To create a bond with diverse cultures and languages and to create an atmosphere to materialize the idea of Unity and Diversity.
