CPM to contest 30 Assembly seats in Bihar
New Delhi, Oct 5 (PTI) The CPI(M) today said it would contest 30 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls after an electoral understanding with CPI, which has announced that it will field candidates in 55 seats.
After a two-day Politburo meeting here, the CPI(M) came out with a list of 27 candidates and said it would decide on three more seats later.
The CPI National Executive, which met here, said it would field 55 candidates in the elections.
The two Left parties are contesting these elections in alliance with the CPI-ML (Liberation) which is contesting on at least 78 seats.
"After a long time, the Left parties have come together to fight large number of seats unitedly. It is a positive development in the changing political course in Bihar," the CPI said in a statement, adding that the National Executive had endorsed the electoral adjustments with CPI(M) and CPI-ML (Liberation).
The three parties have given a call to defeat the JD(U)-BJP combine, reject other combinations of RJD-LJP and Congress and elect Left candidates.
