New Delhi: Breaking New! The Parliament began the big debate over the "price rise", although it is termed as the "inflationary pressure" in technical terms. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj slammed the government, accusing it of betraying the common people.

"The government is insensitive over the issue of price rise. The Finance Minister just wants to reduce his budget deficit by passing the bucks to the common people. The UPA Government betrayed the people of this country, by hiking the fuel prices just after the elections", she said.

"Everybody in India is worried and upset over the rising food prices. Lakhs and lakhs of tonnes of wheat are rotting in FCI godowns, while the government is not providing food grains to the states", she said.

Swaraj also came hard on the government over the fuel price hike, saying the tax rates on petroleum products in the US, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh are much lower than in India.

While Congress MP from Delhi, Sandeep Dikshit defended the government, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav criticised the government for the spiraling food prices. The debate continues.
