Panaji, Feb 2 (IBNS): Pop singer and electoral icon for Goa Remo Fernandes remarked that corruption is a crucial issue in the upcoming state assembly polls as it has deeply affected the state’s development.
Speaking after being felicitated by the Election Commission (EC) yesterday, Remo applauded that Goans are protesting the ills affecting the society.
Remo has been nominated by the EC to promote ethical voting and draw electorates to the polling booths.
“I will take this as a personal responsibility and try promoting act of ethical voting. I thank EC for giving me this honor, and I also thank Anna Hazare for starting a massive anti-corruption movement in India,” the noted singer said.
Recalling his maiden music album ‘Goan Crazy’, he added that he has been witnessing corruption in the state since more than five years.
The singer has rejected various awards by the Goa governments.
“I will see that maximum youth come out to vote this year,” he said lauding EC for its various initiatives to create voter awareness.
