Because, Like Gandhi, he still has the conviction, after so many years, to say and do what he thinks is right. Because though the country dismisses his current stands often, he sticks to them, even demanding accountability and transparency of his party, and standing up for his colleague (Jaswant Singh) when he thinks the latter is right. Because as one of the most respected intellectuals, writers, editors and opinion makers of this country, Shourie has a body of work that is near-impossible to match. Because his personal integrity is unquestionable.
