PATNA: JD(U) national principal general secretary K C Tyagi on Thursday dismissed as incorrect the claim of Congress and RJD that the central fund provided by the UPA I and II governments was not utilised for the development works by the NDA government in Bihar.
Talking to mediapersons, Tyagi said that the central fund was provided to the Bihar government as per the recommendations of the Planning Commission for development. Bihar had got its share under development plans from the revenue generated from the people of Bihar in the form of taxes. This was done under the centre-state financial sharing of the revenue generated from the people of the respective states, he said.
The money in the form of central fund did not come to Bihar from 10, Janpath, the residence of AICC president Sonia Gandhi nor from 24, Akbar Road, the AICC headquarters in Delhi, Tyagi said.
He said that after the failure of an all-party delegation led by home minister P Chidambaram to hold a dialogue with Hurriyat Conference's moderate and hardliners' factions in Srinagar over the issues in Kashmir, a team of eminent citizens and statesmen should be sent there to resolve the matter.
Tyagi sought replacement of the bureaucrat governor of Jammu & Kashmir, N N Vohra, by a person of national repute, who could apply wisdom to solve the Kashmir issue.
He said that some governors appointed by the Congress-led UPA government were senior Congressmen, who tried to manipulate the people's verdict through a no-confidence motion. He also demanded removal of Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj in the wake of Kanataka CM B S Yeddyurappa seeking a vote of confidence for the second time.
